This is a 13 mile loop in the Ozarks that includes a lake, waterfalls, and one of the prettiest overlooks in Arkansas. Warning, this is not for newbies. There are a lot of uphill climbs in this one and don't even think about approaching the hike at the rim at night. |

This is one of my favorites on the Buffalo River. The trail head is just north of Ponca, AR on Highway 43. You will see the Goat's Trail, Granny Henderson's Cabin, Hemmed in Hollow and a lot more. Round trip it is about 14 miles but it is a rough hike coming back so I recommend making it an overnighter. |

You will hit this one on the way to Ponca on Hwy 43. It's about 3 miles round trip but don't let the shortness fool you. The cave and waterfall at the end is beyond words to describe. |

Nice job and a great start on the a trails list! I’m always eager to hear of new places to explore. I have a few more Arkansas area falls that would be nice to add:
Richland Falls/Twin Falls in the Richland Creek Wilderness – -it’s not a maintained trail, but easy to follow
Indian Creek Trail — This is in the Buffalo River Area, and also not maintained but easy to follow
Hemmed in Hollow – from the Compton Trailhead (I note that you have the Centerpoint trailhead) — maintained –this is one of our favorites
Hawksbill Crag/Whitaker Point – also maintained and very popular
There are also some pretty small ones in the Buffalo River area that may or may not be worth adding: The Ponds Loop, Koen Interpretive Trail, Mill Creek Loop — but they may not be big enough hikes to add to this site.

Great additions! I have updated the Arkansas Trails with these. Mark ‘em up and let us know how to get there and what the highlights.

When I get some time I’ll type up some stuff on them. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
Also, there are:
Hideout Hollow
Cecil Cove Loop
McFarrin Point (again, not maintained, but very easy to follow).
We did all of these three last fall.
Also, how far North into Missouri are you looking to cover?

Good suggestion Brent. I will get these added in. Thanks a lot!

I can’t seem to update my avatar or upload any pictures as I always get a “file is to big”. Any suggestions?
November 26, 2012 at 10:50 pm
I’m not sure what would be causing that. Sorry!

I’ve hiked some in Texas. Where can I find a link to tell you what I’ve done there. I don’t see one.
I should also say, after reading your “about” section, you seem very similar to me. I have friends who hunt, etc. I never really go into that and about 8 years ago really go into hiking and other outdoor adventures.
November 26, 2012 at 10:53 pm
Give me some trail names and I will add them into the Texas section. Thanks for checking us out!
