Whittaker Point

The family loaded up for this day hike at about the time the color change was peaking last October.

Apparently much of Arkansas was doing the same thing. We had to walk about a mile up the dirt road that leads to the trail head passing vehicles park along the road side to the left and the right. It was an amusement park atmosphere and I did not care for it. I won’t be the old crank who thinks only I should get to see these great spots on the weekends but I will make this little critique for tourists. Almost everyone traveling this trail wants a picture of Whittaker Point/Hawksbill Crag to take home. Joining the masses of 50 other people on the rock to take a nap and soak in nature is pretty inconsiderate and self defeating. Move your personal meditation up the trail for some real solitude when this many people are out there. Complaint section concluded.

It was a shame that such a pretty day and pretty autumn colors would not allow for some good shots on the trail while so many people were out. Fortunately I was able to get some good shots of the family.
